Our tours

Tour 1. In the footsteps of Schindler

This tour follows the life and times of the German industrialist Oskar Schindler. We retrace his heroic act of saving the lives of 1,100 Jews against the background of Nazi controlled Krakow. Special attention is given to the film, Schindler’s List. We visit several locations where scenes from the film were shot. Along the way, we compare and contrast the real story of Schindler against the filmic one. Likewise, we compare the film version of 1940s Krakow with the present-day city. This Schindler tour is far more in-depth and far reaching than any other Schindler tour. This is due to the immense knowledge of our two directors and the passion that they have for this subject. Tour 3. Warsaw to Krakow

This tour starts off in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. Warsaw has been greatly transformed in recent years, shrugging off its reputation for being a gloomy, fatalistic, Soviet city. Warsaw is now a bustling, vibrant metropolis, full of new buildings and new ideas. Its former grim edginess has given way to a more tourist-friendly city of coffee shops, technology, cars and business.

No visit to Warsaw is complete without a visit to its old centre. The city was mostly bombed to rubble during World War Two. After the Nazis were defeated, the old centre was completely rebuilt, just as it had been before the war. The recreation of the old city from rubble is a wonderful testament to a people’s courage, to rise above the tyranny and destruction that was wrought on them. The Warsaw leg of the tour continues with a visit to a museum dedicated to Poland’s most famous musician, Frederick Chopin. Then, we will visit Wilanow Palace, a wonderful baroque gem and one of the few places in the city to remain mostly intact after the tide of Nazi devastation. From Warsaw, we travel to Czestochowa, the spiritual heart of Poland. Then, we head on to Krakow, the cultural and artistic centre of Poland. See also Tour 2, above, and the page ‘Why visit Krakow?’
